This was it, I had been excited for Kayla and Kam’s wedding day for months; I knew their venue was gorgeous, their details meticulously planned, and the couple themselves head over heels in love (really that’s the secret ingredient for being photogenic on your wedding day ;)). This was also the day my husband was to officially be named as the newest member of my photography team. He had always had a natural skill for photography, and I had spent my off season training him EXACTLY how I wanted to- I mean could you ask for a better situation for having an assistant!?
We slammed coffee and jammed out to the Backstreet Boys greatest hits on Spotify the entire car trip to Harpor’s Vinyard in New Virginia, IA. We arrived excited as ever as we unloaded our equipment and caught up with the bride and groom. Storms were once again in the forecast, but that wasn’t dampening anyone’s spirits. I knew it was going to be an epic day as soon as Kayla pulled me aside and said that she and Kam were willing to go out in the storm after the ceremony for some “Notebook” level couple shots in the rain. Ummmm- yes please.
Their day was absolutely amazing, from the heartfelt ceremony, to the tears shed during the father daughter dance (perhaps some of my own) to Kam’s dance moves kicking off the party. The sun poked through the clouds right as it was setting, giving us the opportunity to capture a few dreamy sunset portraits before we departed. We enjoyed every part of their special day and were so honored to help document the beginning of Kayla and Kameron’s married lives together.
Wishing all the best to the new Mr. and Mrs. McFall!
