I’m sitting here trying to come up with words to describe Michaela and Marshall’s wedding day, and really, it seems impossible because it just didn’t feel like real life! I felt like I was immersed in a fairy tale the entire day. And not the fairy tale where everything perfect happens the entire time, BUT the fairy tale that has dramatic twists and turns but ends up being beautiful, romantic, and perfect anyways.
When I arrived at the Renwick Mansion I was, in a way, knocked off my feet by the surroundings. The sun was shining over storm clouds casting a mystical appearance on this castle-like mansion, chairs in ribbon were set up just over the hillside for the ceremony, and a giant tent right around the corner filled with flowers on the tables and hundreds of glimmering lights lit the beautiful reception space. Nerves filled the air as everyone prayed for the storms to roll away. After venturing inside, no more than five minutes passed when I heard a crash of thunder followed by a downpour of rain. Chair covers were drenched, ceremony plans were in jeopardy and the outside pictures were put on hold.
BUT even storms couldn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. Michaela, the bridesmaids and I found some awesome spots for detail pictures and getting ready portraits inside the beautiful mansion. I had fun AND got a work out running up and down three flights of stairs organizing who could be where and at what times (to avoid the bride and groom running into each other!). And magically, just as the guests began to arrive, the sun once again peeked through the clouds and mist. The rest of the night flew by in a blur. Michaela and Marshall exchanged vows during golden hour, and then snuggled up for some stunning bride and groom portraits just as the sun tucked behind the misty hills leaving a sky full of painted colors. They danced under the stars AND no sooner than the last note of their song, fireworks shot into the sky. I mean, could it get any more romantic?!?
“A night under the stars” was truly spectacular. I was so honored to be a part of Michaela and Marshall’s wedding day and to be able to capture these memories for them to look back on as the start of their very own love story.
