Yeah, I don’t usually do family pictures… Throughout the past couple years, I’ve received a lot of questions as to why not, and to be super honest, I’ve just never felt the calling to do so since starting my photography business! I’ve got my own crazy toddler at home and he fills up ALL of my need to be around kids (no offense to others or to him😂), he’s the cutest, sweetest human being on the planet, but I have also never met another person alive with more energy!!! I’m one tired mama!!
But that all changed last Monday as my fam decided to take our annual Easter picture (I already had my hair curled and my camera charged from photographing a small wedding the weekend before, lol….) Our little guy dressed his best (minus shoes) and gave his best silly face so the picture was perfect to us, but as I was sitting there looking at it, my heart sank as I realized that this Easter, many families won’t be able to celebrate together with their grandparents, uncles, aunts, friends, and so on due to coronavirus crisis. And for those who share that same tradition of getting a family Easter photo, this year because of the quarantine, that might just not be a possibility.
So, I reached out to my amazing North Liberty moms group to see who might be open to having me swing by to capture a quick family pic on the porch (keeping 10 feet away, of course!). The group responded with force and let me tell you, doing this for two nights was pretty freaking amazing. I met a ton of incredible families, got so many laughs, and ultimately I was reminded that even though we are all enduring a very difficult time, our community is SO BLESSED to be able to keep our families close and still spread a bit of love and support to others in the little ways we can.❤️
So yeah, you could probably say I had a change of heart about photographing families… who knows, I might just keep this new tradition alive every Easter.😉🐇🌸
