April 18, 2020
I’ve got a whirlwind of emotions as I try to put this day into words. April 4th had been a long-awaited day for Sydney, Colton and their families. As finishing touches were being made and excitement mounted, news of COVID-19 started putting fear in all of our hearts. In the weeks leading up to their wedding, the effects of the disease only grew; fear and panic started spreading like wildfire throughout the nation and restrictions were placed on all gatherings to attempt to “flatten the curve” of this pandemic. Confusion and grief are probably an understatement as I try to describe what all couples with upcoming weddings (and vendors too!) were feeling in light of this announcement. So many questions of “what do we do now? should we reschedule? should we downsize?” were being asked with no good answers.
Sydney and Colton chose to reschedule their reception but proceed with their wedding ceremony as planned keeping the guest list within the established restrictions. And their day was absolutely incredible. There ceremony was livestreamed to all of their friends and family who were able to celebrate with them from their homes. And as we ventured around St. Ambrose campus for portraits, Sydney and Colton were surprised my multiple visitors who came to wish them congratulations (from afar!). It was heartwarming to see all of the love and support shared despite these challenging circumstances. These two love birds couldn’t keep from smiling all day long; they were truly blessed on this day of their marriage.
It was an honor to be able to attend and capture this beautiful day for Sydney and Colton and I am SO freaking EXCITED to see everyone gather for their next celebration in April 2021!! Congrats to the both of you!
