Ali and Morgan’s wedding day was incredible in every single way, from a picture perfect venue, to an inspiring ceremony, and close friends and family to share in all the memories made. Even though COVID-19 shortened the guest list, Ali and Morgan made the most of their day, and not to mention, we were able to capture SO MANY amazing pictures!!
Perhaps my favorite part of the whole day was being able to hear about Ali and Morgan’s love story. Their officiant prepared such a heartfelt ceremony; she met virtually with the couple leading up to their day to get to know them, not only personally and how they met and fell in love (which was hilarious), but also how they intend to love each other throughout marriage and grow both together AND as individuals. Celebrating one’s individuality is not something that I often hear during wedding ceremonies, and I really felt inspired by the following reading that both Ali and Morgan picked for their officiant to share:
“Let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each on of you be alone, even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.
Give your hears, but not into each other’s keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together, yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.”
And that is why I love this job so much. Weddings are so much more than eating good food, throwing a party, and taking pretty pictures: it’s about celebrating two amazing individuals, like Ali and Morgan, being united together to take on this crazy thing called life. I am incredibly honored that I am able to take part in days like May 29th and I can only hope that the memories captured bring smiles, laughs, and love for years to come. =)
